Dog, horse and family photographer near Ross-on-Wye

Dogs don’t live long enough. A proper portrait means you’ll always have the version of them you love most. The Cowshed is my countryside studio just outside Usk, about 40 minutes from Ross-on-Wye along the A40.
Is it worth the drive?
I think so, but you should judge the work for yourself. My portrait taken at The Cowshed was the Christmas 2025 cover of the international magazine Dogs Today. See more of my dog portraits.
I’ve had the privilege of a life with rescue dogs, so I never rush them. We take everything at your dog’s pace, in a safe, quiet studio.
A good day out for your dog
“You were fabulous to work with - so creative yet calm around Luna. You brought out the best in us and the results are breathtaking!”

Give them a good walk before you set off, then a quick lead walk when you arrive.
Bring a favourite toy or blanket. My treat tin is always full.
Up to 3 dogs from one household are included, and you can be in the photos too.
Leads and guiding hands can be edited out.
Nervous or reactive? Tell me beforehand and we’ll plan a quiet time slot, extra settling-in time, or a start outside.
Horses at your yard
I combine fine-art lighting with real patience around animals. Sessions last 3 hours at your yard, with a location visit, a risk assessment and up to 3 outfit changes for you. Your dog can join in for a short session too.
Equine packages start at £565. Travel is included within 20 miles of Usk, so I’ll give you a clear quote for yards around Ross before you book. See equine photography.

The rest of the family
Kids grow, dogs get grey whiskers, and the busy days blur together. Studio sessions are 60 minutes, for up to 6 people or pets from one household. See family photography.

What it costs
Studio sessions start at £95 and packages start at £395. There is a three-piece wall gallery in the Legacy package, at £1,695, which works well for one portrait of each dog. See all prices.
